Streams, rivers and waterfalls appear along hiking routes that include a segment of the Appalachian Trail. An observation tower tops Clingmans Dome, the highest peak, offering scenic views of the mist-covered mountains.

Cherokee . Has many attractions for the family, like the Oconaluftee Indian Village, Santa's Land Fun Park & Zoo, Mingo Falls and Harrah's casino.
Asheville . Located in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s known for a vibrant arts scene and historic architecture, including the dome-topped Basilica of Saint Lawrence.
Bryson City . Laid-back and non-touristy. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Great Smoky Mountains on a scenic train ride through the Nantahala Gorge.
